Tartan: The proper name for Clan Keith's tartan is "Keith and Austin". Scottish Austins have long been associated with the Keiths, as allies and as a sept of the clan. Probably the tartan set was devised by an Austin, and then shared with the Keith. One ought not forget the Austin part in naming the tartan used by Clan Keith. Different versions of the Keith and Austin tartan may be found with the most common described as modern which is darker than the tartan usually labeled as ancient or old colours. Badges: The coat of arms of all clan chiefs is their personal property alone. Clan badges are granted by the chief to his clansmen in recognition of their affiliation and loyalty and are differentiated from the chief's crest by having a belt emblazoned with the clan motto encircling that crest! The badge of a Keith clansman is: Sinister, out of a Crest Coronet Or, a roebuck's head Proper, attired with tynes Or; encircled by a strap and buckle emblazoned with the clan motto: Veritas Vincit.
